Family and friends began to arrive today from Utah and Texas. This is the first year we are celebrating July 4th here in Idaho. Croquet is set up on the East Lawn. The family Grill Masters are BBQ’ing ribs and pineapple. We have corn on the cob, fresh made fries, fresh squeezed lemonade and home brewed rootbeer. After croquet tonight we have karaoke. Our karaoke nights are pretty epic. We will light the Barn in red, white and blue at midnight. Expecting a clear night so I’m sure Keith will have his telescope out as well.
Tomorrow morning we have a big pancake breakfast planned with ham, bacon and sausage. Grape, orange, apple and pineapple juices and fruit bowls and yogurt. For those early risers flavored hot chocolates because it is just cool. We have the First Annual Homestead 5K. The route is planned out and even though it’s small we have 44 runners registered. We will have some great activities tomorrow including the three legged race, egg toss, face painting and a water fight. The highlight of midday activities is the Soup Competition. We have sponsors and judges. There will be an overall soup winner, runner up and fan favorite. The overall winner receives a cash reward, title 2018 Soup Nazi and their soup will be featured as one of the menu items with a great catering business here. Going to make someone famous tomorrow!
At 4 pm it’s dinner time. Grilled burgers, hot dogs and chicken along with salads, baked beans, potato salad, fruit salad, and pies, cakes, Scotcharoos, cookies, brownies and who knows what else will show up. We will head to the Riverwalk about 6 and enjoy some fun there and wait for the Fireworks show. I’m actually very excited for this. I have heard Idaho Falls puts on a great show. We will have guests until the end of the week. We have several tents set up for the kids. I think this is the first time we haven’t had to overflow to a hotel when peeps have come up. Happy 4th of July everyone! God Bless the USA 🇺🇸
