I love March. It is a most wonderful time of the year. Conference Tournaments, Selection Sunday and the Big Dance. Keith and I decided to host our first ever March Madness Event and Fundraiser. Guests were coming and going Thursday thru Saturday here at the Homestead. In the bar we had several games on the different screens. Catered fan food, PlayStation 4 basketball on one of the big screens, pool, darts, table soccer and lots of smack talk. Honestly I was exhausted but we had so much fun. Usually there were around 50 to 100 guests at any one time. The Jar was out and over the 3 days we raised $3200 for the Foundation. Our saying was “leave a few dollars, stay awhile, eat a lot!” There were a few generous souls.
So you might be wanting to know who I picked for the Final Four. My choices were as follows.
I have Gonzaga for the win. I know you are surprised. In the Tournament there is no loyalty! Despite the fact I can’t stand Gonzaga they are that good, experience going deep into the Tournament over the last few years, and that loss in the conference championship to St. Mary’s hurt. I just think it is their year so there you go. So after two rounds I have 14 of the 16 teams remaining so this next week is going to be fun. Have some friends from Utah coming up for the March Madness Event this week. It’s going to get insane! Honestly I needed Sunday to recover after this first week.
We got up this morning and headed to Utah for follow up visits to Primary Children’s Hospital for our son. I have been anxious for days. From what we can tell it feels like progress is being made but today we got concrete results. His bloodwork and ultrasound came back showing some good improvement. He still has a long road ahead but so very grateful for good news. Prayers have been answered for sure. We come back April 2nd to see yet another specialist. I think both Keith and I shared a moment of gratitude when the doctor was going over the results. I looked at him and nothing needed to be said, you could see it all in each other’s eyes. I appreciate him in my life.
Tonight we are celebrating. After the doctor’s appointment we headed to City Creek for a little shopping. He needed some new shoes and pants since gaining 7 pounds over the last month. Crazy! After shopping we dropped off our bags at the Courtyard Downtown Hotel. Now we are headed to the Jazz Game. Jimmer Mania tonight with the Suns in town.
It is going to be rockin’ tonight. Hoping he gets a few shots in. Fredette is just the nicest guy in the World. So tonight it’s about fun, I don’t even care who wins! Just full of smiles and Joy this afternoon.
Our son came home this weekend from BYU. Finally! He brought three of his friends and we have had a full weekend. Last night we watched the Duke vs North Carolina semi-final game and it was insane. Duke had to fight hard to get back in it. Tied up 44 at halftime then a yo-yo second half with lead changes and just a slugfest. Duke won 74-73 by hanging on to that one point lead. I wore my Duke hat for good luck. You are welcome (:
The boys did some indoor rock climbing last night and were up late playing video games. This morning I got up early and made scones and hot chocolate. We decided on driving down to Inkom to ski and snowboard at Pebble Creek. First time for us there and it was Actually really good. Nice having two great places close by. Had some hamburgers for lunch and just enjoyed a beautiful day on the slopes.
Tonight we grilled some steaks for dinner and watched the Jazz game and the Duke game. I am so excited for the NCAA Tournament. March Madness Baby! It’s going to be an awesome couple of weeks. The kids are watching a movie in the theater now. I am hanging with the dogs and Keith. Tomorrow we will go to church and then feed these boys before they head back to school. It was so good having them here.
Things have been relatively quiet around the Homestead. This weekend we caught up on some fun. Took a walk down by the Temple Friday morning. Winter is hanging on for a bit longer and I’m totally fine with that.
Friday night kicked off with Food Club. Steak, baked potato, yams, broccoli and some dancing after. A friend shared a new song with me recently and it was our last song. Chris Young Gettin’ You Home. Here is the link. One of my new favorites! I love dancing, especially the two step, it really made my night.
Saturday we caught Captain Marvel in the theater mid-morning. I loved the movie! It was just a great story and had a Guardians of the Galaxy feel to it. Looking so forward to Avengers End Game. The teaser in the end credits really left you wanting more.
Saturday afternoon we went down to the Palisades for some snowmobiling. It is so beautiful down there and so much snow. We haven’t taken the sleds out enough this year. I am grateful we still were able to get away and enjoy an afternoon. Seriously I think our family would be game to go snowmobiling every day.
On a negative note the BYU Cougars lost to San Diego in the conference tournament. I was embarrassed for our program. What a horrible game and crappy way to end Saturday. Something needs to happen at BYU because they suck.
Sunday I was up early making breakfast. I crashed for a nap later in the day. Keith and I are taking some friends with us and heading down to see the Utah Jazz game tomorrow night against Oklahoma City. Hoping to see Westbrook lose it lol. Go Jazz! Looking at a property in Park City Tuesday morning then headed back to Idaho. On a side note I am so looking forward to March Madness. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
I just noticed I haven’t written a blog post since February 23rd. That is almost two weeks. When I am home I tend to be far less exciting. Not off to exotic destinations and doing insanely crazy things. Maybe it’s a bit of home time being more personal time. I try to be pretty open but there definitely is a private side to me. When I am not traveling I don’t write in my blogs as faithfully. We still do things and I am still having a good time, it is just harder to write while at home even if not as busy. Anyway, the last couple of weeks have included watching BYU and Jazz games with friends, finishing the Star Wars Marathon, an afternoon of Laser Tag, morning of rock wall climbing and some wonderful acts of kindness from friends for our son. Pretty humbling to feel so much love.
This last week we had a lunch event here for Roses and Friday night will be Food Club. I bought an insane amount of peeps to give away. That was kinda fun seeing the cashier’s wtf expression at checkout. Keith and I considered going to see BYU play in the Conference Tournament but right now we seem content to stay close to home. I’m not going to the East Coast with my friends for dōTERRA Tour this month. Right now the Universe is keeping me close and I am ok with that. I was up late last night listening to very loud music. I love looking up the lyrics of songs. They come alive to me in new ways and helps me find balance when I feel off. Some nights it is good to have the Barn to yourself so you can dance and sing in private. Thank you to many that follow this blog for the private messages of kindness and prayers for us. We are grateful and it has brought much peace.
