Summer Summer

It has been fun to be home.  Haven’t really done a whole lot.  Caught up on a few movies, rode the 4 wheelers, some hiking and a spur of the moment trip to Walmart where Keith did some shopping.  A couple of nights with friends for games, homemade ice cream, and BBQ.  Keith set up one of the new tents for the kids this weekend.  They had to test the gear they bought in preparation for Father & Sons coming up.  They pretty much moved in.  Keith spent Thursday night out there with them.  The dog even wanted to sleep outside.  Last night they had some friends join them as well and I got Keith back but the dog is all about the camping out.  I have a feeling he is going camping with them.  I woke up today with a horrible headache.  I need to remember.  McDonalds is not for me.  Every time we eat there I get a bad headache.  McDonalds hangover or something.  Never again.  Monday we leave for Park City.  July 4th with friends and family until Friday.  Alpine slide and zip lining planned at Olympic Park.  We want to find some cool places to go hiking plus some rappelling if our friend can break away.  It should be a good week.  I hope everyone has a safe and fun Independence Day.

Holiday Decoration Rules

A few rules to bring JOY to you and yours. The Holidays are coming fast.  We hope they will be wonderful.

1. If the house is over 4000 sq ft it requires a second tree.

 2. If possible always use a 9 foot tree or bigger if you can.

 3. The more lights the better. When in doubt use more lights. When finished add more lights.

 4. Lights on the house makes everyone happy. Lots of lights. When in doubt add more lights.

 5. Wreaths, Mistletoe, lights on the banister, lights in the kids rooms and lights on the deck are required.

6. If possible wrap the trees.  Nothing is more cool than lights in the trees outside.

Here is a link to inspire you.  If I were totally honest with myself I would say I Christmas decorations before presents.  I love the lights!

Halloween Bash

It was a monster mash!  Some of you may already know of last nights neighborhood festivities but here is a brief recap.  A bit morbid but what else would you expect from an event planner!  We had the Hearst parked in the driveway and the coffin in the garage with a skeleton in it.  Was totally awesome!  A local sign company make us a bunch of tombstones and we had everyone use a marker to write  their name and the year they will die on them.  They then got to place it in the yard before coming into the Haunted Homestead.  If you did this you got a raffle ticket.  We had a big jar there where you could make a donation to our chosen charity for the night and they matched it.  What an incredible sponsor.  If you donated you got a raffle ticket.  ❤️

We had orange lights in all the outside lights so the Homestead was impossible to miss.  As you entered you passed through the twilight zone and the black lights.  The kids and many adults loved this.  Refreshments included scones and hot chocolate, Scotcheroos, so much candy…I am embarrassed to say.  Subs, potatoe salad, fruit salad and the best of all a couldron of homemade rootbeer with dry ice.  Some of the kids were afraid to drink it cause they overheard me refer to is as my poisonous concoction for the children.  Ha ha.  I was an evil witch you know?!

We had 3 stages of the party.  Each got a bit creepier and darker as the night progressed.  First stage we taught everyone how to dance to the Thriller….ha ha ha.  If you did you got a raffle ticket.  We also had a wizard there doing dark magic.  I love magic and so did my victims.  The wizard was a master.  We did our first round of drawings for the giveaways at 9 pm.  Then we had some story tellers come and tell some crazy ghost stories.  Honestly that was insane.  They weren’t slasher type stories but OMG.  We then lit Luminary bags and had a visitor from beyond the grave do another round of giveaways.  If you lit a Luminary you got a raffle ticket.

At 11:30 we then had a short stint of fireworks but unfortunately the police showed up.  His blue and red lights were flashing and he even hit us with a siren burst to get our attention.  As if we didnt already know he was there.  He did not seem to be in the Halloween mood.  He said there were complaints.  I looked around and was like who?  Everyone is here.  Suddenly there was a blood curdling scream.  Everyone froze.  There on the floor of my kitchen my BFF lay in a pool of blood.  I ran to Mandy and she was trying to tell me who did it but she died in my arms!  Her life force slipped away.  A few guests pointed at my husband and said he did it.  I said no that wasn’t possible.  The officer told Keith to put his hands on the counter and he then cuffed him.  I kept saying it wasn’t possible and someone please help us discover who the real killer was.  Then my helpers passed out clues and we began our hour of who done it!  Lol.  We still had like 70 people there and this was midnight.  Ha Keith was a good sport staying in the handcuffs.  I cannot reveal here who was the real killer.  Maybe if you know the Key Word I’ll share 😇  If you played you got a raffle ticket.

At 1 we did the big reveal.  Keith was freed.  The real killer apprehended.  We were lucky we had the coffin and morticians.  Mandy couldn’t stay dead on my kitchen floor forever.  The big giveaway for the night was a 3 day trip to Bear Lake this Spring.

I love to do parties.  It brings such joy to hear people scream and laugh.  We even had a fair share of teens which you know your doing it right when they want to come.  A couple of links below of some of our music selections.  We raised a fair share of money we donated to the funeral home to be used for families in need of some financial assistance.  My heart is full today because of the generosity of friends.  ❤️👻😇

Labor Day Weekend 2016

Well our first Holiday in Idaho.  My two best friends and their families are coming up for the long weekend.  They should all be here by 5.  Tonight’s plans include a tour, BBQ, game night.  Kids will probably play video games and watch a movie.  I am so excited to see Sara and Mandy!  Ok back to the plans.  Tomorrow we are going to start the day with homemade donuts and I have OJ, grape juice, apple juice and pineapple juice.  A juice for everyone!  Then I am taking S&M on a run.  We have a 5 miler planned so they can see the hood.  Around noon the hubbies are taking all the kids for lunch, then to see Pete’s Dragon.  After, they will pick up snacks for the BYU game and pizzas and hot wings.  Sara, Mandy and I get some catch up time.  Oh the things we have planned for our 5 hours of freedom.  Naughty things.  Very naughty things.  It will be fun I can promise you that.  So um where was I?!   Oh yes, the BYU game.  I personally believe BYU wins this game.  Big crowd, return of Hill as QB, new coaching staff.   They will be ready to make a statement.  Rise and Shout!  After celebrating the BYU win we plan to enjoy catching up on the deck.  Probably look at stars with Keith’s telescope and have hot chocolate.  Nights are cooling off but still nice to be out.  The stars are very bright out here where we live.  Sunday will bring church and a relaxing day.  Will make a big dinner and probably watch a movie.  Monday we are up early and headed to Jackson Hole for the day.  I think we leave by 8 so should have a nice full day up there.  I haven’t been there in years so looking forward to seeing it again.  Such a pretty area.  Basically our plans are to be tourists and eat and just enjoy.  I need to see if they have a zip line or something.  Maybe a good hike.  I’ll google today and see what else there is to do.  We will stay through dinner and then head back.  Tuesday everyone heads home and Keith and I get ready for our trip back to Utah.  Will get some fun with the boys then.  :).

Me Day

I am not sure if this just happens I our family or not but every once in awhile Keith and I will take a Me Day.  We get 3 a year so you kind of have to use them wisely.  They are almost like sick days or vacation days people that work in real jobs get I guess.  Never had one of those kind of jobs so I’m making an assumption.  So when you call a Me Day it means Mom or Dad are on vacation for the day.  Kids get to fend for themselves and/or on Dad if it’s my day.  It’s not so much that I run off somewhere, but I can.  Sometimes I’ll go spend the day with a friend, or go to the spa, or other times sleep half the day.  Like I said we only get 3 a year so they are like a little oasis over the year.  I know this may sound like a selfish thing but we had a family council a few years ago and our Board of Directors (Family) voted this into existence.  We also have for the kids 5 get out of chores cards per year as well.  So everyone is covered.  Some of the perks of the Me Day include.  Sex on Demand or the Freedom from Sex Act depending on ones mood.  Some no justification required spending money.  Does not require details of whereabouts but all our standing rules regarding play are in force.  The day counts for 24 hours.  Me days do have black out dates which include Holidays, Birthdays, Anniversary, and  vacations.  So like Holidays you have to plan for them unless you just need a chill day.  Have a great Sunday!
