Ok after two weeks of kids home, holidays and a trip to Orlando with kids & friends, we needed a break. Keith asked me out to dinner last night. He also was singing Neil Diamond songs so he was being romantically goofy. He took me to this amazing steakhouse in Jackson Hole. Wyoming, the White Buffalo Club. It was awesome! Started with the Hawaiian Rolls. I had the 8 ounce Filet, Keith had the 14 ounce Ribeye. Even the baked potato was excellent. For Dessert the Liquid Nitrogen Churned Ice Cream. There are no words, must be experienced. It was fun driving out, made a few phone calls, took a nap, talked with Keith. It was just nice. I’m looking forward to going to bed tonight. Just one of those days I want to retreat to my bed and relax. ♥️. My date may get lucky tonight!
My husband is hopeless romantic. I absolutely love him for it. He has brought me so much Joy. I think I smile so often because I from laughing at him over one of a million silly things he does. He has captured my heart and continues to day after day. Once again he has swept me away this week on a romantic getaway and adventure. I found out late Sunday that we were leaving Wednesday morning for two days. No warning, just it’s set so clear your calendar. He does however, offer me 5 clues over the next two days. Mostly to hint at what to bring and a few insights into what we might be doing. Friends helped me figure out the where which was awesome.
So here is what went down. We left early Wednesday morning to catch our flight to Seattle. A BMW rental car was waiting for us when we arrived. I did raise an eyebrow, Keith was very excited. We sped off to the Four Seasons where we checked in, grabbed some lunch, then had a date at the spa. Couples massages are so very fun. I got my favorite, an 80 minutes hot rock massage. After the most relaxing massage of my life we got some pool time in and virgin margaritas then love making before dinner.
I admit I love sex. Intimate, naughty, tender, slow, quickie. It’s all good. Having time, being alone with your love, no kids to interrupt and having him making you gasp, moving in you and gently kissing your neck, ears, forehead and lips. I am loved and I feel safe. He has my heart and I trust him with it. The best unspoken words ever expressed are from those gentle slow thrusts. I love you Keith.
We had dinner reservations at The Butcher’s Table. As a foodie I give this steak house 4 out of 4 stars. My Filet Mignon was perfect. Service and atmosphere were top notch plus the dessert! They even had live music.
After dinner we hit the Space Needle. It’s way way up there to the observation deck. I love the city lights. Something about how the light bathes the darkness. It’s just surreal. Very beautiful and romantic.
Thursday we had an extra hour to sleep in. Climbed out of bed at 7:30 and grabbed breakfast before heading out for our adventure. We left early to make sure we had time as it’s about 90 minutes out to the Skykomish River. Nine miles of class III and IV rapids with one section called the Boulder Drop which is class V. It was insanely fun. I was laughing so hard. I managed to not drown yesterday which is a positive. I did lose my paddle. These rapids are a bit more extreme than Moab rapids. I got very very wet. Not that kind of wet but my teeth were chattering. Once the adrenaline wears off it was a bit chilly. They took us back to our meeting place and had a BBQ sandwich for dinner. We had to get back to Seattle, showered and dressed up for the Seattle Symphony performing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at Benaroya Hall. The place was amazing. Got ready crazy fast and there in time to get seated. We were on the Founders Tier so had a view from above. Incredible seats. Here is a pic of Benaroya Hall and of the Symphony with this huge screen with the movie behind them. It was Epic!
It was a truly surprising and unexpected 48 hours. Nice mix of chill, relaxation and adventure. We flew home and getting ready for the Birthday party tonight. It should be pretty fun. Lots of friends. Ribs, homemade fries, homemade lemonade, several cakes including the soda pop cake, German chocolate and Bad Ass Double Chocolate plus homemade ice cream. If I have to be 29 I might as well do it in style! 😇
Friday afternoon and evening have been a blast! We got back to Honolulu about 12:15. Grabbed some lunch then went to play with some dolphins! They truly must be some of the most intelligent creatures God has created. Maybe it’s just my imagination but I swear when they saw me they were knew it was me. I got such a warm reception and they had so much to say. I even met some of their friends. It was fun to swim and play and get kisses. Jack is a very confident dolphin 🐬. Chip is talkative and playful. My friend couldn’t stop laughing. I had to tell them about my kids and promise them we would be visiting again this Summer. Regarding dolphins. Best. Experience. Ever! Do it, just do it! We said our goodbyes and after getting cleaned up and a short nap went out to this place called the Yard House for dinner. I had a pepper crusted filet with parmesan mashed potatoes, asparagus and carrots. For dessert we ordered the mini trio sampler of crème brûlée, peach apple cobbler and chocolate soufflé cake. We also ordered the fresh baked mint chocolate chip brownie with caramel and toasted coconut ice cream. We just shared it all so no guilt, we earned the desserts this week. The Yard House is another Wakiki Angie approved destination. It’s now 9:20 and I’m heading back to my family in the morning. I am so looking forward to seeing them.
Today is a special day. Keith and his business partner completed a successful exit of one of their business ventures. It has taken a few months to complete the sale but today it funded and it is done. I am proud of his hard work and it is even more special as we are back in Park City for New Years weekend with our best friends in the whole world. We decided this year to spend New Years at the Casa, here in Park City, with our families. Because of this big event in our lives we decided to go big and dine out, kids and all. Ruth Chris for 16 of us, with four courses including appetizers, desserts, soda, lemonade or non-alcoholic drinks. With a big family when we go out we never order appetizers or desserts. If we do we share the desserts. Waters usually as our drinks because you know we are being thrifty lol. We can do Texas Road House with 6 of us for under $75 since it’s one of our favorite places we have the routine down. Tonight we dine like we are rich. No kids sharing a meal. Everyone gets dessert and we are leaving a big tip if they deserve it. We probably will never splurge like this again but it is a celebration. I can’t believe it is finally done. Kind of a surreal feeling that this chapter in our book of life is over. Keith you did good! ❤
Today has been so fun! A most excellent adventure for Keith and I. We got up soooo early to catch our 6:30 am flight to NYC. We had a couple of hours layover in Denver. Had time for a good breakfast. Checked in with the kids. Keith’s parents arrived about 1 so they were ready for them when they got home. At 10:30 am we boarded the flight for NYC and I got a nap and chatted some. Since I was by the window I got to see some beautiful country at times. We got in to NYC and there was a driver waiting for us. Our last name was on one of those white boards! I have never had that experience as a VIP type of thing. I mean there he was, he saw me recognizing our name and he just instinctively knew it was us. He was very nice and he helped with my luggage. Keith stlll had to pull his along. Did I mention I was reppin’ my BYU tee and jacket? I felt like everyone was looking at me going hey BYU that is cool! I was smiling at everyone lol. I think I embarrassed Keith.
Anyway we got in the car and headed for the West Village of Manhattan. We are guests for two days at this 4 story townhome. It is amazing! We have a private garden, a private rooftop. It also is part of this condo tower with a couple of restaurants and a doorman, a gym, a spa, a private theater for special events. We got the tour you know?! I don’t know how people have so much money! It was unbelievable. Oh i was talking to the doorman. His name is George and he is from Brooklyn. Very nice. I told him I was from Idaho but it was our secret. He said he would not tell a soul. We talked about Idaho. He has never been to Idaho or the mountains of Zion. I told him he must. He said he might. I told him he should. We are now friends and planning a trip. He wants to come out to see our barn we are going to build. He said he could be the doorman for my grand opening! I am like OMG that would be so cool to have a professional doorman. He said I should. I said we must. So yes we are going to make it happen. George was sooooo awesome! I have one friend in NYC now. He was so kind. He said I was a Ray of Sunshine from the West.
Next up is dinner. They are taking us to some steak house here at 8 so we are leaving soon. They asked what kind of food we wanted and I’m like a really good steak. They were like no problem. So I am interested to see if it’s as good as Lombardis in Green Bay. (It was!) That was the best steak I have ever had. So I have high expectations as they promised it was one of the best places in Manhattan. I have been here once and I still think it’s like visiting Coruscant. So crazy. I❤️NY!
